How much of harry potter is nicked from greek mythology....I reckon that Fluffy the three headed dog is Cerebus who guards the dead souls from crossing the river styx...anyone else see stuff codged from them????

Oh yes, J.K. Rowling had a classics degree and she (mis)uses classical references throghout the books.

I think it is very clever that she uses mythology as it teaches todays generations about it. For example ... Argus Filch the caretaker is a sneaky beak who spies on everyone .. he is taken from Argos who had 1000 eyes and saw all.
The phoenix is from greek legend I think.
