I seem to remember reading somewhere that the medical profession decided it would not be right to use information gathered in this way.

I THINK (may be wrong) that the Americans collected up all the medical information after the war, so maybe they had a sneaky peek when no one was looking.
a small amount of it may have produced useful data but there's obviously a lot of hesitation about using it, as VHG says.

VHG is right about the Americans.
American (and British) POW's were subjected to the most awful experiments in Japan.
They were frozen(literally) overheated, injected witrh all sorts of drugs and viruses, and then studied!
When the US Forces occupied Japan they allowed the Japanese "doctors" to go free on condition that their research was handed to the US!
I don;t know if this happened in Germany after WW2,but I can believe it might have.
I don't know if any research was done in the camps but the link between smoking and lung cancer was established by a German doctor in 1942. The research was supported by Hitler who detested tobacco use.
I think there's a page on Wikipedia about it.
they did alot experiments alot of them inhumane. they tested on twins the disabled etc. it was ruled as unusable. however many of the nazi scientists escaped justice by being employed by the countries who fought them.
The New England Journal reviewed this about 20 yrs ago and concluded that not much was done in Nazi Germany that was of much use.

The X ray movie films were used for teaching - high doses of X rays were used with short exposure times.

IN Japan I am afraid, the CIA bargained the information for the lives of the experimenters. Harbin Manchuria. There is a bit on the internet on this. They gave small pox to various racial groups: the 'European' group were American POWs and the CIA was keen to get its hands on unrepeatable info like this.
