[ON THE ROAD]

Can anyone help me find the name of the town in the North East of England where two young boys accidently set fire to a barrel of gunpowder outside Mr Beecham's Ironmongery shop ? I have tried local books and the reference library without success, so I was wondering if anyone knows of other ways and sources to persue a question like this. As a quiz question it has to be attainable and it could be fictional, and I would be grateful for any help. Thanks
