I saw a documentary on teleivison a couple of years ago about the true story of a young girl who had been possessed by an old man. When she spoke it sounded like his voice, and she also flew aroud the room. I think there was actual footage of her levitating above her bed. Afterwards no one wanted to buy the house because of what had happened to the girl. Does anyone know about this case, and is there anything I can search for, for example her name, so I can find out more about it?

Was it **********?

If so it was all a hoax

Well AB have editted your answer, rendering it completely useless. Kind of defeats the point of this site?? Can anyone else provide any more info? I'd still like to read more about it.

If it's the story I'm thinking of, it was proved to be a hoax, the two young girls involved actually admitted faking it.  They claimed to have been "thrown" around their bedroom by the ghost yet it turned out they were jumping around the room off their beds.

The "acclaimed ghosthunter" who was investigating these disturbances was a dodgy old geezer with a handlebar moustache and a checky sports jacket (he was also a bit of a ginger).  In the same "documentary" he also took part in an attempt to get undeniable evidence of the existence of spooks.  This involved filming about 20 people (who all wanted to believe in ghosts) sitting in a supposedly haunted room in total darkness.  surprisingly enough, before very long something happened... a cup smashed on the floor.  Of course, nobody actually saw this happen, as it was too dark.  The cameras didn't pick anything up as it was too dark, yet our acclaimed ghosthunter took this as absolute proof that ghosts exist.  Hmmmm.  I think an acclaimed ghosthunter should eliminate all other possibilities before declaring that a ghost had smashed the cup.

By the way, the acclaimed ghosthunter also invented those rolling advertisement boards you see at bus stations... At least he said he did...

there was a hoax that sounds exactly like your description that was done by a tv channel ages ago (it was more of a practical joke on the ordiance) a little girl spoke in an old man's voice, was posessed, flew etc. sorry cant remember the name but just to clarify if im right your ghost was a hoax
I think I married her
I think the case your'e refering to is the Enfield Poltergeist. I'm certain you can find a lot of info about it on the net. I think the hoax that Alej metions was the BBC's "**********" which was broadcast in 1992. It wasn't actaully a hoax, merely a drama which was done in the format of a live show at a haunted house with Micheal Parkinson presenting it. Dispite the fact that it was billed as a drama and gave the names of the actors and screenwriters in the credits, many people believed that it was real and wrote very angry letters to Points of View when they realised how silly they had been.
Hmmmm AB doesnt seem to like that word. but there's a discussion about it here http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Search/Question44312-18.asp?Page=1&SearchText=**********

I am about to watch the a program all about the enfield ghost which was on tv last week, the one with Johnathan Ross's wife - and I live in Enfield and the girl (Janet) was in my husband's class at school while she was being haunted. My nephew and neice live in Green street now and an old lady lives in the house, apparently on the show they interview Janet but she doesn't want to be recognised or want anyone to know where she lives now, Although my father-in-law recognised where she lives from some footage. I will post once I have watched it, it was not a hoax.

Well I just watched it and it was interesting, the voice the girl speaks in is definately that of an old man, he even says where he is buried in green street churchyard and that he meets with his friends in Durants park and chose the girls house because he used to live there!

The girl janet has never spoken about what happened since so this was her first interview and she was very believable, my husband remembers her coming to school shaken which was made worse by the fact she was on the front of all the daily papers.

I know there was a book about the green street ghost but can't remember what it was called - if anyone knows? Or any interesting stuff to do with it, I am obviously interested as it's so close to where I live and was soooo famous.
