Farrier
Farrier is correct but I suppose you could also call him/her a blacksmith or smithess as they also shoe the horses and trim its hooves.

In fact there are plenty of farriers round here who do call themselves "horse manicurists".  However, I don't think I'd employ one who was so rude as to take such offence at such a minor point.  "Ripping" does not seem a very mature response for someone supposed to care for animals.

 

Of course, "manicure" actually means treating hands, so if they were to take offence it ought to be because they are actually pedicurists.

 

Does that make me a pedantic pony pedicurist...?
