I turned on the TV this morning and saw the incident of a female protestor throwing a greenish liquid into the face of Lord Mandelson.
"This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle"
"Land of Hope and Glory"
I was never a Mandelson fan, but now I have warmed to him.
Amazingly she was not appreheded by any bystander, scared perhaps that they would be accused of assault.
Some proud parents would be proud of their well brought up daughter thinking how well their money had been spent on private education.

Today, I was ashamed to be English. today the arrogance of the English was seen at it's very worst.

Yesterday on the bus some teenagers were messing and arguing and their language was appalling. I had my 10 year old son with me. I stared at the main girl until she caught my eye and she knew I was going to say something if she didn't shut up.

Disgusting behaviour. If I ever caught my kids talking like that I'd bitch slap all over the house.

I havn't seen that on the news and as i don't tend to be aware of political issues unless given the heads up on ab i shall have to look for it and then see what it was all about, I think if someone has taken such a drastic step there must be a very strong feeling that there is something wrong, but you can't condone that sort or almost terror tactic.

I am 86,and so able to rmember the end of the Empire.
It was never a glorious thing as people imagine,but enough of that.
Personally I applaud her,at least it wasn't a bullet like it might have been in the USA!

Mr Veritas and postdog...I do understand your feelings, but in the UK we do not discuss policy over a cup of coffee, but indeed have a democratic policy of elections. In 1997, there was a landslide victory for the Labour Party on the basis of policies for the country and this was extended in susequent elections. Throwing poo and green liquid into ministers faces is one method, but completely imbecile and counterproductive.
How about voting them out at the next election?
