The government is to look again at the old male bias of primogeniture in the question of succession to the throne. They are also going to re-consider whether Catholicism should bar a person from the succession. Is it about time these changes were made or should we leave the system as it is?

You need to disestablish the church of England first otherwise you'd have a Catholic head of the CofE and approving bishops etc.

The CofE is independent of the Vatican. That's the whole idea. So how could you have a Catholic as head of a church that has no links with the Pope?

The Act of Succession would have to be repealled, or the CofE disestablished. In either case, who would be head of the Church? One of the Archbishops?

Exactly Steve Henry VIII was born a Catholic but was excommunicated from the Catholic church when he seized control of it in England.

The Pope claims Juristiction of the whole church so you could hardly be a catholic and be head of the CofE.

The new Act if passed would apply to the UK only and in there could be a different monarch in other Commonwealth countries where the current queen is Head of State. The Acts of Union would also be affected as Papists or those marrying Papists are barred from the throne under the Acts.

In theory as the current Queen Elizabeth is Queen of Scots and not Queen Elizabeth II, there could be a split in the monarchies of Scotland and the rest of the UK.

I can see there being problems in Ulster too wi the solution being a Union between Scotland and Ulster.
