Does anyone out there, know if I can get details of why a man of 36 in 1940 failed a medical exam, therefore was not able to fight in the second war, I know he was colour blind, could this be the answer?
I hope I have posted this in the correct area. thanks. I have the actual green card that he was given but there are no details on it. thanks again.

There were different grades, A1 was the top, my great uncle was B2 but still joined the RAF. Do you know the grade?

thank you dothawkes 31 for your reply, the grade on the green card is four.
Looks like it may have been suspected TB or something similar - see this chap's story:

do 'edit / find on this page' and put green card in the box, if you don't fancy reading the whole shebang to find the reference.
my dad joined the raf during ww2

he was colour blind but was an electrician on lancasters in bomber command and was responsible for hooking up all the electrics and accumulators after the plane was armed

he survived and for 18 months after the war remained in the raf as an electrician instructor

i think they made earth wires with yellow as well as green especially for his benefit!

elfen safety would have a fit these days

if anyone remembers the bob newhart audio sketch as a makeshift bomb disposal engineer

(on telephone) ok bud i need to hurry up and cut the grey wire?.....is that the light grey or the dark grey wire?
