Irish first names

Can anyone suggest any Irish female first names which would have been common for those born in the 1930s and 1940s but not so nowadays?

irish names went through a long period of anglicisation during the late 19th, early 20th centuries, so names like maire became mary, finnguala became penelope, and calbhach and cormac became charles. its only in the last 30 or 40 years that the gaelic versions have made a comeback. i have four aunts born in the 30s in ireland and they all have very 'english' names.

Caoimhe. Another name which has suddenly reappeared. It has the' snob value'' for trendy parents of being impossible to pronounce from the spelling, if you're unfamiliar with Gaelic ( It's 'kee-va' ).Whether the child will be pleased at forever having to spell it for officials outside Ireland is another matter.
