If Edward VIII had not abdicated and who died without issue in 1972, would the crown have passed to his then only surviving brother Henry, Duke of Gloucester?

Had the abdication not happened, Edward and Wallis were childless, so the throne would have passed to Elizabeth anyway.

You are making the assumption that the only change to history was Edward not abdicating.

There is also the possibility that his brother Bertie (known as George VI) may have lived beyond 1952, in which case the throne would than have gone to him. He would have been younger than Edward VII was when he succeeded Victoria

we are all a part of history though, if i hadn't married my husband and had the 3 children that would have changed history too.
Edward didn't die until 1972, so Elizabeth would have inherited the throne then, assuming her Father had died in 1952. He could possibly still have been alive in 1972, in which case he would have inherited, then Elizabeth on George's death.
