I have always wondered why Mexico has never been invaded or taken over by other countries, it would seem to be a good political move by any adversaries of the Western world, they could batter the U. S. here and there along the borders, I hope I don't give them ideas.

Well, the french invaded it.

I think the Spanish invaded it.
The Germans in 1917 said they would offer their support if Mexico attacked America in order to regain Texas, the message (known as the Zimmerman telegram) was intercepted and handed to Woodrow Wilson which brought the Americans into The Great War.
Considering Spain owned the land comprising the northern and western areas of Mexico in what is now California, Arizona, New Mexico and Southern Colorado and Utah as well as most of Texas, it could accurately be said that the U.S. invaded "Mexico"...

The remaining portions of what is now Arizona were added only in 1853 (The Gadsen Purchase following the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo)...

Yes thank you, I did not know about the Zimmerman telegram. I was thinking more about today and what is stopping some of our adversaries.

Name an "adversary of the Western world" who would think it advantageous to amass a great land army, transport it thousands of miles across land and ocean to attack the neighbour of the USA (without US retaliation) in the hope that they could attain a base of operations to take pot-shots at the Southern states.

the Russians tried to place nuclear missiles in Cuba in 1962, which nearly triggered WW3. I doubt the White House would stand by while all of Mexico was taken over.

Not that I can think of any country that could do it. Mexico is quite a big place.
hmmm... apologies for mixing up my login and my answer there...

Yes I suppose what you say is logical; maybe it would be a matter if all our troops were stationed at some other scary spot, the U. S. was terribly tied up somewhere else, there is only so much manpower. I can usually think of something to worry about.!
well, the aztecs ( who lived in mexico.) didn't get invaded for a long time because they were surrounded by water. but mexica was drained so i dont really now.
