BBMF cutbacks?
3 Answers
To all those interested as you all should be.
In the Daily Mail today, the Government is looking at the possibilty of cutting back on spending on the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. The amount spent on it is 0.1% of the MoD's budget and 1% of the amount paid in bonuses to civil servants at the Ministry which is £300,000,000! Watch out and be prepared to protest strongly.

However, at the moment there are things that the government need to concentrate their money on for example - ensuring that troops have the right equipment; vehicles etc. Why should the government fund it anyway? The BBMF should ask for lottery funding as well as public donations.
The BBMF might ask for lottery funding and public support but I doubt they will get it. I help to sponsor the last flying Vulcan aircraft, we have been refused funding by the government, and had a limited one off payment from the lottery fund. Public support, although they love to see it flying aren't quite so happy about donations. There is a real chance that this Icon of the cold war will be permanently grounded this year. As Hugh says, they can always find money for bonuses.
