why does an egg stand on end at the time of the spring equinox

Are you sure it does? Ive never seen one do so without help

It absolutely works! I have done it for years. I have only been able to stand it up within 30 or so minutes of the beginning of the equinox but it has remained standing - unassisted - for as long as 4 hours. Then it just rolled over and I couldn't get it stood up again. I was formerly a radio dj and we used to do it on the air! Listeners would call in from all over telling me how long their egg "stood up". We have also done it on the autumnal equinox. Why though, I don' t know but I'd love to!

Interesting. Have you tried it at other times of year (to rule out the effect of the egg)? It's difficult to conceive of a global effect, you see, as very little changes around then. If it was a tidal thing you would expect the same effect every month.

I remember it being on the news ages ago and the reporter claimed it was due to the alignment of Earth's and The Sun's respective gravitational fields - if that's the case, what will an egg do now - during the planetary alignment???
