Apparently "our delusions of granduer at winning the war are a greater cross to bear than German guilt over the Nazis" - So Nick Clegg would rather we lost the war and presumably would have preferred Nazi rule to what we have now. Is Clegg setting a new level for Anti Britishness? Can anyone seriously consider voting lib dem after this tresonous statement?

Wasn't it the combined might of the Soviet Union and the USA win the war?
Question Author
yes and Britain helped too, what a plonker!
Back in the 1960s when i was at school, the boys in my class seemed to think that the Germans were the sworn enemy and were always making the bullied kids play the Germans in their playground battles, that would not happen now would it?
I think labour and conservatives are so scared of Nick Clegg now they are using real skulduggery to prompt the bad headlines, it's monipulation of the masses don't fall for it
A: "our delusions of granduer at winning the war are a greater cross to bear than German guilt over the Nazis"
B: Nick Clegg would rather we lost the war and presumably would have preferred Nazi rule to what we have now.

When you've calmed down from your hissy fit, you'll see that B doesn't follow from A.
links please.....not 'apparents'

Well assuming that he would rather bear lesser cross, I think that it does quinny!

Happy times!
howard was a non starter, I didnt even remember him..
Wrong, R1. But that does explain your simplistic outlook to most things.

- Barcelona played in the Champions league this week, Real Madrid didn't.
- Barcelona are probably more tired than Madrid.
- If Barca say that their tiredness is a greater cross to bear than Madrid's, it doesn't follow that they'd rather Madrid were in the CL and not them.

It's really not that difficult.
Question Author
So It's Barca's fault then, right oh!
Absolutely amazing Clegg tells us we are worse than the Nazis, and most on here defend him.
Yup - like I said on your thread AOG

Most people can see through a blatent attempt to smear him

People aren't as stupid as the tabloids seem to think they are!

Reassuring isn't it?
Question Author
So he didn't say it then jake and the papers made it up did they?
Well, it was 8 years ago according to AOG's Mail link. So the fact that it's just suddenly turned up after the increase in interest in Clegg, it does imply they've been doing a lot of digging.
I know the Daily Mail readership has the lowest levels of functional adult literacy of any national newspaper (see below), but it still surprises me that its readers still pick out only one or two words per sentence and make a judgement based on that - regardless of what's actually being said. In this case 'Clegg' and 'Nazis'.

The Mirror - 88%
The Daily Express - 88%
The Sun - 82%
The Daily Star - 79%
The Daily Mail - 78%
R1, you should know jake would swear black is white if it meant accusing the Tories of anything.
Its an absolute disgrace, but then what do you expect from a liberal.
And to those saying redress the balance, I think that is what is happening. Brown and Cameron have both had to bear the brunt of it, Clegg comes into the running so its now his turn. Didnt see too many moaning when it was Brown or Cameron on the recieving end.
Typical liberals, never like anyone disagreeing with their blinkered idealist view on the world.
