London 14th May

A school teacher was arrested today at Gatwick Airport as he attempted to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a set square, a slide rule, and a calculator.

At a morning press conference, the Home Secretary said he believes the man is a member of the notorious Al-gebra movement.

He did not identify the man, who has been charged by the Met Police with carrying weapons of maths instruction. "Al-gebra is a problem for us," Reid said. "They desire solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in a search of absolute values.

They use secret code names like 'x` and `y` and refer to themselves as `unknowns,` but we have determined they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with co-ordinates in every country.

As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, "There are 3 sides to every triangle".

When asked to comment on the arrest, The British Prime Minister , speaking from his new office before jetting off on holiday before the planes stopped flying again, said, "If God had wanted us to have better Weapons of Maths Instruction, He would have given us more fingers and toes."

Well it made me chuckle!

is this a sine of dangerous times ahead?
al-gebra sounds like the root of all evil
lol never knew maths could be such a laugh! Thanks all for making me chuckle :-)
i'd really like to put in a witty remark here, but just can't think of one :( larfinf my elbow off at everyone else tho...x
But at least the police have dealt with it in a very (co)efficient manner!
2 hours of algebra today! i thought it was real to start with, until it got to al-gebra, you should have put it in the jokes section, its better than most the stuff in there.
apparently the govenment are in talks with al-gebra - they are hoping to find a common denominator
the government should work on al-gebras integration back into society
You know the Al-ge-bra's joined the Al-zebra's, so the whole movement is black and white.
Al-gebra is the basis for a great joke- but it doesn't really work for me in this form because a ruler, a protractor and a set square, a slide rule, and a calculator are used for Geometry and Number/Calculator. They are not relevant to Algebra.
Weapons of Maths instruction is a good one though.
some calculated replies here.
So how do you differentiate between the Al-gebras and Al-zebras/
and this happened around the time that tweedlecameron and tweedleclegg cosine-d a pact.
