Shocker..... cat and dog are not getting along.
2 Answers
I have a cat, she doesn't like any other animals but loves people. All cats and dogs are scum to her she just hissed like mad. We now have a dogue de bordeaux, he was my partners before he split from his ex. The dog got depressed eventually and went off his food so we agreed to take him on and he is eating and happy. The problem left now is that my cat is sort of in exile. Lurking around upstairs (I could really do without this as her hair does trigger my asthma at times). When ever she sees any dog she hisses at them, if the dog ignores her that's all that happens, however our dogue thinks she's playing and tries to chase her at times. How can I get them to happily ignore each other? Is the secret in getting the dog to ignore her so she can just resent him in peace, or do I need to be doing something with the cat?

They eventually got to the stage where they tolerated one another, but one cat in particular would hiss or have a swipe whenever the dog went near - he learned to keep away from her. Those cats are now dead and I have another 2 which have known the dog since they were kittens and they are all the best of friends.
