In his book Robert Harris stated that captives who had been paraded in a Roman Triumph in ancient Rome were then ritually strangled. Where would he have found a source for that statement?

He is well known for using the writings of Cicero for his sources and they exist to this day
it is widely believed that vercingetorex was ritually strangled after the triumph of caesar at the tullianum and that this was a customary thing to do after the ignominy - the romans ritluaised everything. but as for an orginal source of this as fact, i am not sure it exists. dio cassius merely states that he was 'put to death'.

perhaps the writings of plutarch, appian, cassius dio or seutonius provide some facts?

Thank you both. I was looking confirmation for a minor point in an essay. I think, rather than searching, I'll leave it out.
Caratacus was taken to Rome with this purpose, but he was allowed to address the Senate first and flattered them sufficiently that he was pardoned and allowed to stay in Rome.
oh, and Zenobia may have been let off too.
