vessel acadian
an ancestor from devon is on census files as being a MARINER on the vessel acadian, have tried on various sites to find out more about this ship but so far no luck. anyone any idea where I may find out more about this vessel acadian. many thanks.

This could have been a coastal vessel or a fishing boat, not necessarily a large ocean going ship or a military ship. I take it he was enumeratored on the vessel on census night? Where was the Acadian moared? If you go to the emumerators route at the start of that district it will give you the details on where the vessels were moared.

Acadia was a region in Canada settled by people of French origin. Many of them left for the USA settling in Louisiana, where Acadian became corrupted into Cajun.
