I've wondered about this for ages, but never got round to asking you lot.

How do you address someone in the navy/sea cadets, who is of the rate midshipman?

They're not an officer so it wouldn't be sir or maam and with rates such as petty officer/ warrant officer you shorten it to po and wo, respectively.

But for the life of me I can't think of how you'd address a midshipman. Can any of you with navy backgrounds help? I know there's a couple of you.

Gregory Peck addressed them as Mr.. In his films, that is.
In military circles, address a midshipman as “Mr. or Ms. (or Miss) .” When with civilians, introduce the midshipman as “Midshipman ” and address the midshipman as “Mr. or Ms. (or Miss)

Thanks. I think I've seen one in all the time i've been at cadets, and he was a proper navy midshipman (on a Royal Fleet Auxillary ship I stayed on), but I never had to talk to him and never saw anyone address him either.
