...is there not an indignant, nationalistic outburst anywhere here on AB (or have I missed it ?) from the usual contributors over the news item that a man (with a distinctly non-anglo-saxon sounding name) was left to die in this green and pleasant land, apparently stuffed into a building materials bag, in a pool of his own blood in the back of a van driven and otherwise occupied by four men with recognisably native names ? There is no obvious sign that I have seen of a thread here relating to the story - how odd, given the other issues that have attention drawn to them.

So Karl are you saying that had there been a "Tarquin cuthbert" murdered by a "Leroy Brown" "Mohammed Bin Laden" and "li-shao'Po" the news section would've been filled with stories of "Deport and then Behead culprits" etc...?

Thanks for the links, well I am outraged by any such horrific murder and we need the full details before we can assume any more than is in the reports.

I think the lack of comment can be ascribed to the fact that this story appeared in the Guardian, not the usual diet of those prone to indignant, nationalistic outbursts, so they may well have missed it.

There's too much not known about this story yet, yesterday's Metro suggested that the victim had been kidnapped just before he was found dead. Sunningdale is a very wealthy part of the country. Too much to speculate on before we start throwing theories about.

Could have been about money, but someone tortured to death tells me that it was personal, also the fact that a father and his sons were involved point again to this fact, my guess is that this guy may have got involved with a female family member or even the wife or girlfriend of those that were involved and ended up tortured and killed when he was found out.

It has been reported that the men arrested were under investigation by HMRC for tobacco smuggling and, indeed, that the Police were tipped off by HMRC that 'something' was happening, hence armed officers surrounding the transit van.

If that's so and they expected a van full of tobacco, that must have been a horror when they opened the doors. However - all speculation at the moment!
