I once made the mistake, many years ago, of asking my mother for help with my Latin homework. Her withering response was," I pay good money for you to go to grammar school so that you can teach me Latin!"
The next day a neighbour popped round. My mother, full of pride, said, "Our Michael's doing ever so well now. He's at grammar school and learning French and Latin and Algebra. Go on, Michael, say something to Mrs Jones in Algebra".

Actually that's not true, Bobbi, more the re-working of an old joke. My mother was not that stupid, although she did say later, when I told her that I had chosen Latin as one of my A level subjects, " If I'd known you were that keen on Latin fours years ago, I could have sent you to the local Catholic school for nowt!"
The internet is a network of individual computers that are connected via independent and constantly variable routing. It was originally conceived by DARPA in the USA to maintain communications in the event of a nuclear attack destroying communications centres.
Google, etc. is actually the World Wide Web ( a British invention) and is a service that runs on the internet.
The 2 terms are not interchangeable. The WWW needs the internet but the internet can function without the WWW.

Correct, but you'd be amazed at how many people will happily tell you that Sir Tim Berners Lee invented the Internet:
