I saw an advert last night and I'm totally confused by it. I was about a trouser press chasing some fella, he was chased all over the place by this trouser press, and he had a pink handbag in his hand, not sure if he was supposed to have mugged someone or not, as I said it was very confusing, anyway the next minute a car is being advertised. I thought it was some sort of error in the ads, because it just didn't seem to make sense. Could someone please explain this to me, coz I just didn't get it. Thanks

LiverpoolLou, can these advertising whizzkids not come up with something more original? I mean, you see one ad wi a bloke chased by a trouser press and you've seen them all.....
I haven't seen this ad, but very often it's the weirdest ads that you can remember the easiest. This is a classic technique use by advertising buffs to make you remember their product.
I saw it too and was really confused. I think it is just to make you remember the product because it is so bizarre. Having said that, I have no idea what the car was, all I remember is the guy with the handbag being chased by the trouser press...

I think the ad is for Skoda.

Which is probably their last step in getting away from everyone thinking they only made terrible cars.

come on guys! the strap line is at the end of the ad! its basically supposed to say that the skoda is practical (like the trouser press) but also exciting, hence the reason its filmed like an action film!
Incredible! saw this post as was knocked off my feet! I take everyone who has replied to this post has realised that the ad may not be directed at them! Yes adverts do make an effort to stand out but never through the creative process do the creatives think "oh lets just make it so nobody understands it, then they'll remember it"! what sort of client would spend 5 million on that alone! everything has a reason and the creatives are hugely talented people, if its not aimed at you, you may not get it, if it is made so that leaves you thinking then there is very good reason for it! my main point is that people have this idea that creatives just sit around making usless ads for lots of money. The fact is that multi million pound clients spend millions on ads cos the people making them are at the top of what they do for a very good reason!
