4 Its likely at some point that there was one male (or more)who was more homo sap than not and who bred with one (or more) female who was more homo sap than not. I have a feeling that all current human life can be traced back to a very few women through mitochondria...will go and have a google.

The day used to be a lot less than 24 hours the tidal action of the moon slows it down.
620 million years ago it was a little over 21 hours
We can tell this from tidal deposits - so called rhytemites

Jake, that's fascinating. I never knew that the earth & moon could be considered a double planet system rather than a planet and satellite one. 2.1 billion years until the suns radiation burns off the oceans eh? Best get a move on with the escape plans. Also fascinating that as the suns mass decreases we are slowly ( very very slowly) drifting further away from it.
So thankyou to the OP.
