Are there any other Geordies on here who live in other parts of the UK?

I am Geordie lass and live in the south of the UK. Some people can't understand my accent down here.

By the way...the weather is much better down here, but the only thing I miss is the friendliness of people :-)
Plus, the further south you go, the more clothes they wear on a Saturday night out in winter!
They can understand you perfectly, it's just their way of not having to talk to you, lol ;-))

aye, they do wear a lot more clothes than us geordies..hee-hee.
One of ym maths teachers is a geordie and i understand her fine, and i come from suffolk but have been exposed to lots of different accents.

Geordies live everywhere, hinny. South Wales has its share (I'm one) and find that the locals are just as friendly as any Durham/Sunderland/Newcastle denizen.

Don't worry about your accent, Pet; most people like it. so long as you don't become a 'professional Geordie' by laying it on too broadly. Gan canny, lass....
Molly has been exposed to different accents.
I have been exposed to by a geordie rugby player
Muchlovex if you have £30 spare get one of these!

My dad was a Co Durham man and I remember going from our home - I was born/raised in Bucks - to see relatives in the Hartlepool area. I was aged about 8 then and had no problems with understanding as I suppose I had got used to my dads accent.

A couple of years later my elder sister got married and they came down to Bucks and as far as I was concerned they were speaking French - I had trouble with even two word sentences!!!!

Later when my then future wife - from East London - met my dad she just nodded and had to admit, to him too, that she couldnt understand him
I hope there isnt, Geordies living in other parts of the UK that is.

I say we fence 'em in, perhaps on a little island just of the coast of Geordieland, and position guards every so often around the perimeter fence just incase some try to make a run (or may be swim) for freedom to t'other parts of the country. Heaven forbid they breed with us normal folk.

;-)
pmsl @ 'us normal folk'......
Hi puternut
I'm from up Co Durham way but I never thought I was a Geordie, so you live and learn.
Too late, Boo, too late.... Many years ago there was a mass breakout from Coquet Island and we escapees have been on the run ever since, contaminating the South and causing linguistic mayhem in all points south of Doncaster. We call it 'ethnic cleansing'.
Question Author
or 'Geordie Cleansing'..hee-hee
It'll be difficult to tell because they are so reticent about mentioning their origins.......;o)
I thought "Geordie Cleansing" was when they have their annual bath?

<<<<<<runs away quickly>>>>>>>
I always thought that to be a Geordie you had to be born with in so many miles of the river Tyne, is it true?
Boo need not worry. Most us Geordies are quite content to inhabit our own little world and have no wish to contaminate the Muggles. Were I to emigrate, Norfolk or Suffolk would be my choice.
