Cloth shower curtain question

We have a cloth shower curtain that is relatively new but as it drys it does give off a damp type smell.

It is always kept unfolded whilst it is damp/wet, to allow the natural air to dry it. The bathroom is well ventilated to aid drying.

Is there any suggestions that we can use to prevent the damp smell from occurring please?

My local 99p shop sells packs of two shower curtains (guess the price). The material from which they are made is very thin, but they do the job. At the first sign of significant damage, 49.5p is invested in a replacement. Some of the designs on offer are quite attractive (to me), but the required colour co-ordination can be tricky (given that they are sold in a pack of two different designs).

Personally I think the thin material from which these curtain are made is preferable to thicker (admittedly more durable) more expensive curtains.

You could get a cheap, clear plastic curtain to hang inside the cloth one, that way it wont get wet. That's what I've done anyway.

Hi, other half always throws ours in the washing machine. She says that it cleans it and removes the limescale.

We have gone down the cheap plastic curtain route and we do regularly wash this curtain. I was looking for more of a spray we can use, that doesn't have a bleach in it?

Maybe somebodies own concoction?

A cloth one ? No wonder it ends to smell. Probably go mouldy over time too.
I thought they were all plastic. Do you have to sling it in the washing machine after every shower ?
