This is how I've done it. If still wet sprinkle liberally with salt, kitchen towel over the top and tread all over to get the stain to lift. Then I have a spray carpet cleaner and use some of that and blot again. Don't know if that will help you, other than that google it.
Re the coke...have spilt cola on the carpet before or rather family member did and I couldn;'t get the stain from the cola out lol...but who know it might come out with the wine added to it.
Tonic Water or 7 UP........ pour some Tonic Water on to stain, do not rub...leave for 5 minutes...blot with paper towel until the stain is gone.
Then wash with warm (not hot) water and mild detergent using clean cloth.
cover wet patch with towel and stand on towel, changing to dry part of towel until stain is dry.
Or you could just put a mat over the stain and save yourself the bother. lol.
Rather a late answer, I know... but those oxy-action powdered stain removers work brilliantly for this. I've had red wine spillages on my cream carpets before now and these have worked every time. I use this one: http://www.lakeland.c...0/Oxi-Clean?src=gfeed
