cooker stainless steel v's sliver coated

I am looking at range cookers I want sliver but worry that stainless steel often looks water marked? I might go with a plain sliver 'coloured' version as this won't show marks but worry it would look cheaper when it costs the same as stainless steel, I have a microwave, kettle, and kitchen bin in stainless steel and I can never get the marks off but I don't know if my items are cheap stainless steel or if it is just me??

Does it have to be silver? i've got a range type cooker and although the hood, backsplash, knob panel backing and oven door handles are silver, the hob is black.
Its hard enough to keep the stainless bits looking good, but having a silver hob would drive me mad! As its black a quick wipe over does it!

I would'nt have stainless steel I'd have a nervous breakdown trying to keep it clean, and silver paint is just grey really. I do have a few steel things in my kitchen but the kettle is best as it's brushed stainless steel which is more forgiving of finger marks etc. As Slinky says I'd try to look for one with a black hob, also enamel will be more scratch resistant so stay looking 'new' for a lot longer.

well my hob is not the problem as it will be induction so glass. But its the frontage and doors, I guess round the knobs will be difficult to clean.

I wouldn't get stainless steel! I had one and ended up replacing it within 12 months (expensive mistake!) as keeping it looking good was almost a full time job! I ended up with a graphite coloured range with stainless steel fittings - looks good and easy to clean!
