When we are painting walls we always use a roller for the main area and a brush for cutting in, but when the paint dries, we can always see the difference between the two. How can we stop this happening? Also, why do decorators wear white overalls?

Rollers push the paint into the plaster, while brushes just spread it around on top (roughly)............ plus the brush marks. Try a 100mm radiator roller.

I use a small brush into the corners first, then dab with the end of the brush to get the slightly stippled effect of the roller, then go over with the roller to within about 6mm of the corner.

There will always be a slight difference between the two but you shouldn't really see it very much. After cutting in with a brush get as close to the edge as possible with the roller. Another cause for being able to see the change between the two is that you may need to go a bit faster so that the cutting in which is usually done first has not started to dry. You always need to keep a wet edge and this will help this from happening.

You could try using the paint pads as they cut into the corners as well so there will be no difference in result. They are good imo and we always use those.
