skirting board with Lino?

I am tiling all the ground floor of the house because I have animals except the gym as don't want tiles damaged by weights/equipment. So I am putting lino in there but haven't a clue what to do on the skirting's? Any thoughts? Do I even need a skirting board in a gym with a lino floor?

You will need something to cover the wall/floor joint. Are the walls plastered?

I've seen one Boo - it's a room with lots of chrome things that you can hang clothes on. I only have an exercise bike but we can get several jackets, cardis and even a couple of handbags on it.

My cats use my exercise bike as a climbing frame - it knocks the coat hangers off of it.

yes plastered, and the floor is solid concrete - new construction and the lino fitter has requested a self leveling substance layed before he comes to fit the lino

lino will be cold and the weight of the equipment will dent it, what..the - why don't you have a laminate floor, much more durable for the gym.

i'm going for a heavy domestic wear lino, installed by a professional to stop it moving around/creasing/folding. The the gym equipment will be fixed stations so shouldn't be too bad for damage I also have foam floor pads for under equipment.

Carpet won't be too good because the exercise stations will be permanent so the carpet will get worn in certain areas and not ohters

After the vinyl is laid, Mrs What......... you could glue a small section hardwood bead all around. Maybe a cove mould......... ie a small L-shaped piece of hardwood with a concave shape on the face. You can buy them ready made.

seems the same as skirting though and I was hoping to be lazy and not install any form of skirting plus avoid wood that won't go with anything in the room??

OK......... only thing for it then........... ask the to plaster right down tight to the floor (ideally, have them fix a render-stop galvanised bead along the bottom edge and plaster down over that.............. L-shaped bead with a solid stop along the bottom)
It is often fixed a few mm above floor level, and the vinyl is tcked into the gap.

Use some No-Nails to fix it to the walls and it will allow the lino to expand/contract without rippling. Looks quite cool IMHO.

Have you tiled all the ground floor yet ? the reason I ask is because a friend of mine has done that and now finds the dog cannot walk normally on the tiles. He cannot get a grip and walked everywhere backwards or occasionally sideways, my friend has now put mats down for him.
