Poor Ghostie seems to have been in a fight and has a nasty wound on his front leg. Vet has put staples in and put a collar on him.

Thing is, the collar looks tight to me. The instructions say I should be able to get two fingers between the collar and his neck.

Would that be two fingers 'tall' ie one finger on his neck, other finger on top of the first finger?

Or would that be two fingers side by side on his neck?

I can do the first but not the latter.

Not sure mandimoo, if it was two fingers tall it maybe too slack and the collar would swing around.

askyourgran that is a good point.

I meant to say that I could do the latter and not the first in my question, so I can get two fingers side by side, but not one on top of the other.

He's acting a bit wierd at the moment, just sort of sitting there with his head hung low, face right into the wall and not moving about much.
Two fingers side by side.

You'd probably do the same in his circumstances :-)
2 fingers side by side, any more than that and the collar will be off!!
My cat had to wear a collar for several weeks last year. She managed to get it off very easily when it was fitted as per the vet's instructions. The only way I managed to keep it on her was by putting her in a harness and looping the collar part of that through the plastic loops on the collar. This also had the benefit that it could be fitted a bit looser and I wasn't worried about it being too tight. She got used to it fairly quickly but she did keep bumping into door frames and things.

Ghostie is much more himself by today. Now we just have the nightmare of administering antibiotics twice a day to a feisty feline ;o/
