Do We Ever Really Care Who Lived In Our...

Some friends in Hong Kong are thinking of using bamboo flooring in their new appt.
The concept of this is sound, as bamboo not only makes a good flooring product, but is a very sustainable resource, as it grows very quickly. The only forseeable pitfall is the re-sale value in the future, as the local residents tend to use bamboo for scaffolding, dim sum pots etc [ie...not really associated with a stylish floor].
Has anyone had experience with bamboo flooring, or any thoughts on this particular situation?
Thanks in anticipation!
