Would you recommend a 40 amp type b or c MCB for a shower circuit?

Type B for domestic situations Adlew.

Type C are usually for commercial systems where surge current from banks of fluorescent tubes can cause the MCB to operate unnecessarily......... among other things............ :o)
Generally B type...c type could be used if the earth fault loop impedance is low enough to meet the disconnection time. The cable must be sized according to the mcb and any correction factors applied.Dont forget the RCD.
