there are four transit screws to be removed

one has come out - the other three have loosened and extended, but i cannot pull them out

i am assuming they were to stop the drum from moving or rotating however, as the drum can now rotate .. would it be ok to leave the three screws as they are - sticking out?

If its brand new surely the people who delivered it should have unpacked it. I would ring them and get them to come and do it.

my DIY skills (or lack thereof) are well known, as i have never had to do anything major before

some people are good at handywork .... others, like me, are intellectuals

Try putting the one that came out back in a short way and see if it enables you to release the others. As there is a spring/shock absorber they may be binding.

a handyman friend of my brother-in-law came round

he took the back plate off and wrestled them all out from the inside ... they were jammed solid
