I accidentally got paint on a French door Besides scraping off the paint, what other methods can be use to remove the paint? Is there some sort of liquid stuff available for serving that purpose? I do not have the patients to scrape.

Thanks for looking at my question and for your reply.

I have found a razor blade works the best way.
How much paint? What sort of paint?

I think you'll have to wait until it dries and then get scraping with a stanley blade (or similar)
White spirit
I think scraping is the easiest method. It comes off very easily.

If it's still wet you can try some white spirits.
If the paints dry a stanley blade scraper is best, white spirit for wet paint.

Next time use some masking tape ☺☺

The paint is well dry, over a year. I keep looking at it and then putting of cleaning it because I think the best option might be to scrape the paint off.

Do you think paint thinners would do the trick? There's paint on every little panel on the door. Gosh, that's a lot of work!

Thanks you guys for your speedy responses. xxx

Murray - is white spirit the same as paint thinners?

Alice - believe it, I did use paint tape. :)
You'll have to scrape it. If you get a proper scraper it comes off really easily.
As already mentioned - scrape it off.
If it's too much to do all once, do it section by section.
I'm a window cleaner and I regularly come across paint on windows.
Get a decent scraper with a new blade - it won't take as long as you think :)
Much the same...I use it for cleaning paint brushes...

Thanks Gizmonster. Starting next week I'll do one pane a day. By the time Christmas comes the door would be cleaned. Great!
Question Author
Yeah Murray, that's it. But I'll give the scraping idea a go.

I nominate all of you with best answers. xx
You wont go wrong with scraping it off society. Much cleaner and quicker all round. We have been there and its much quicker x
