I have no problem with her attacking the DM for what amounts to a smear campaign of guilt by association - And pointing out the faint whiff of hypocrisy, with the DM being so keen on publishing stories about underage girls in bikinis whenever they can.
That having been said, she should have made it clearer earlier that she and the others regretted the link between PIE and the NCCL. And we are owed an explanation as to why it took so long to eject PIE from the ranks of affiliated groups. But I do not think Harmon is the best person for that; Better would be to hear from Patricia Hewitt who was General Secretary. Despite claims of PIE being sidelined and their agenda marginalised through opposition within the NCCL led by Dromey, we are also owed some more detail on that.
But despite all this furore around PIE, it must also be remembered that successive Home Secretaries declined to outlaw them as a group until the early 1980s - throughout the 70's they were a legal group. And there were public protests back then about an advocacy group openly lobbying for changes to the law on paedophilia.
