Washing Machine Connected To Kitchen U Bend

My defunked washing machine is connected to the u bend in the kitchen
Every time I empty the washing up bowl half the water seeps out through the bottom of the washing machine.
I can't uninstall the washing machine until 6 June when the new one comes
I thought about using a two pence coin to seal the washing machine outlet but I'm worried it may clog the main outlet up
Any help would be appreciated

There's a type of sink trap that comes with a sticky-outey connection for machines. They often have a rubber blank which is removed when a machine is connected... so go ahead. No problem :o)))

Do you think it's worthwhile getting a plumber in to change it to a seperate outlet pipe?

Ric, no need at all. Nothing wrong with your present set-up. Meths' height point is good, but not so important with a sealed connection such as yours.

Height is important if you had a "saxophone" type waste trap for the washing machine.

Just to let you all know the £2.49 spent at homebase was money very well spent
