How Long Before Isis Joins The Un?
44 Answers
We've seen it all before.
Today's terrorist is tomorrow's respected statesman.
ANC members routinely executed their enemies with "bracelets" - burning car tyres placed round their necks.
The IRA drilled peoples kneecaps with electric drills.
ISIS are more extreme, but do we think they could carve out a caliphate then seek international recognition?

In Ireland, kneecapping produced the horror and revulsion they wanted for terror and publicity.
ISIS operate in a culture where beheading, stoning, and lashings over an extended period are normal. Their extremely efficient PR machine needs far more extreme practices.

// The IRA kneecapped naughty people. Not aid workers.//
umm is all I can say.....part of the fol-de-rol the fun loving Irish put up with is that the IRA and UVL/UFF etc ran drugs rings and demanded the right to sell drugs exclusively on their patches. The people of Ireland put up with this and ignored it
and then they went around drilling those who were not er licensed to push drugs on their own grounds, and called it "Policing"
When Johnny Adair was internally exiled to Bolton ( control order I think). The doors of the bolton pubs were run by one particular man ( a certain JA actually ) and the area became saturated with drugs....There was less popular support than previously

I assume you're talking about the siege of Fort Pitt, JNO?
whilst there is documentary evidence that the british handed Delaware delegates 2 blankets from the smallpox infirmary, it is generally thought that the local first nation people already had the disease. certainly the 2 delegates, turtle's heart and mamaltee, did not contract the disease and were still alive 5 years later to represent their people at Fort Stanwix.

Sorry - good try but untrue
The Spartans in the Peloponnesian war allowed refugees to go to Athen but not out of it as it crowded the city then in the grip of Purpura (Plague) 300BC or thereabouts
and in 1345 the fun loving huns would catapult the dead from Plague INTO cities
are two examples that spring to mind

Lots of good points here, thanks, but no opinions on the future of ISIS.
Does anyone think this group, better funded and with better PR than ever tha ANC had, will eventually be seen as the respectable freedom fighters who found a new state?
Peter Pedant you're right - Winnie Mandela was fond of necklaces!

Pete 65. You are flogging a dead horse here. The average British person has been so brainwashed by the British press that they believe that ; The IRA are Catholic and only the IRA committed the atrocities such as knee capping etc.
The facts do not support these fictions. You don't need to scratch a person very deeply to expose bigotry.
