Satin dries to a dull sheen but because it contains no oil, it is not quite as resilient to knocks as gloss.

Oh I C not sure I will like that thank you .
Satin is a type of finish, it doesn't mean that it is water based.

Satin finish is available in oil and water based paints. Water based paint will not 'yellow/discolour' anywhere near as quick as oil based paint will.
However, oil based paint is generally hardier.
In my opinion, use water base. It is much quicker/easier to use, and less hassle.
The water based ones will be easier to put on and wont discolour as quickly but the oil based ones are usually harder wearing and you can get a much smoother finish with them.
