Central Heating Thermostat

I have a problem with the gas central heating. It keeps coming on by itself. I`m pretty sure it`s the thermostat. Would that be a job for an electrician or a central heating engineer?

I'd say a CH engineer as they should be fully knowledgeable on the electronic functions too. Is it permanently running at the control box and only comes on and off based on the setting on the thermostat?

Thats what they are designed to do

As razza says its what they're designed to do,first thing I'd do is check the settings and adjust if necessary.

They're not designed to do it when the CH is in the 'off' time though, which I asked. I'd have thought 237 knows thermostats make it come on and off based on the temperature setting.

Either, 237. Some "proper" boilermen can wire a roomstat, and so can electricians ...... but not all of them

The important thing, whichever you ask, is to make it clear what you need when you speak to them. They'll soon say if they don't know.

Sounds a bit "Irish" I know, but I've seen plenty of boilermen who leave it to the electrician, and vice versa. Stupid situation, but there's nothing definite in this business as I'm sure you know.
