OH has been keen for a wood burner stove for ages and we have had someone round to have a look see.

They have recommended. FDC5. Although I have found some on line none of them give a price.

Generally stoves cost anything between £200 and £800 depending on wattage etc.

Anyone had a FDC5? How good (or bad) have you found it and about how much do they cost?

Thanks

Haven't heard of a FDC5, but whichever stove you go for make sure you have the chimney properly lined, and everything installed by a HETAS registered installer. False economy if you don't, and can lead to problems later
do you get wattage on wood burners?
No wattage on a wood burner, heat depends on how much wood you put in.
Do you means just a 'replacement fireplace' or an actual wood burning oven like an Aga ?

It's a pity sherrardk isn't around I think her OH did wood Burning stoves.. I hope she's OK
perhaps that heat is measured in wattage though eddie?
They do specify the Kilowatts , just looked on my link.
Never realised that before.
Cassa...one quick word of warning...some friends of mine bought a woodburner a few years ago, and they still reckon that they get warmer from chopping the bloody wood, than they do sitting in front of it !
I can't speak for that particular wood burner, but we have a wood burner - brilliant! I agree with brainiac though. It's imperative that you get a specialist to install it and to ensure that the chimney is properly lined. Don't under any circumstances opt for DIY.

We are getting the work done by a proper specialist installer.

TBH if it doesn't kick out enough heat I'm not going to die (well not from hypothermia at least lol). We have just replaced our 40 yr old radiators for more efficient ones. OH has always wanted a wood burner and this is just something to make him happy.

I just wonder where the coffee table is going to go as at present it is in front of the old gas fire that we haven't used for ten years.
