Electric Advice Needed Please.

Is it ok to plug a washing machine into a normal electric socket? The socket that I normally use is behind the machine and not easy to get too, it is fed by a fused switch socket above the worktop that the machine is under, trouble is that the vibration of the machine keeps working the plug loose, meaning I have got to keep moving the machine out from under the worktop and push the plug back in. So I have now started to plug the machine into a normal socket above the worktop, is this safe? Thanks for any advice.

Yes. The only reason the socket under the worktop was fed by a fused, switched spur was to enable you to turn off the power to the machine without pulling it away from the wall.

Peter, to avoid having the lead draping over the worktop, replace the lower washing machine with one of these..........

The machine will then be "hard-wired", so no disconnection problems.
