little dome heads that fit over the screws?

a very thin screwdriver or knife to pop them off.
they sound like these, you unscrew the cover, they should be very tight.

sorry, shouldn't be tight.

Thanks Albs - yes Vulcan - they're the ones. your link looks like the cover has been screwed in - if so how do I get them off since there is no "grip" etc.
I've come across covers that prise off.....and others that unscrew.....
They would have been screwed on by hand so not very tight, try wearing a rubber glove and unscrew anti clockwise.

will give that a go - thanks all.
as an aside, lefty - loosey, righty -tighty.

Hand-screwed tho, depends on strength of person who tightened them!

Hope you get the brutes off JJ xx
From the title I though you'd been watching porridge !
If they are screw in domes, sometimes called 'mirror screws' - that is a chrome dome with a small thin bolt attached which is threaded into a hole in the screw head, you just need to hold them and unscrew them. If you can't get a grip, clean any grease of the surface and when dry try unscrewing them wearing dry rubber washing up gloves.

Update - got them off - yes they were screws - however the glass that I wanted to get off was extremely heavy but managed to get it off and washed and shone it up - so now the splash back looks very clean. Thanks all again.
