What Cable Type For Led Tv Extension?
2 Answers
Hi,
I'm looking to wall mount my TV but this requires the power and aerial cables to be run along the walls/ceiling to the power point, which is approx. 7m away. So I need to extend the power cable. Basically, I want to cut the original TV power cable at the plug and splice it onto a length of cable that I can then run to the power socket. But what type/gauge of cable do I need to buy? Many of the ones I have been looking at say that they are designed to be run under plaster and are non-flexible. The aerial cable is a basic coaxial so this is no problem.
Many thanks in advance!

What I do in similar circumstance s is to use a pair of these: https:// www. maplin. co. uk/ search/? text= euro+ connector close to the TV. That way, if you get problems with the TV you can easily break the connection to remove it from the wall.

An LED TV won't be rated at more than about 50W, so that's going to draw less than 1 Amp in current. So 3A flex would be fine. Check to see if your TV uses 2-cored (non-earthed) or 3-core (earthed) cable. Then buy something like this:
