Hot Water

Hi, I have an issue with my bath tap where it gives warm water for a few seconds then cold water and alternates every few seconds. The sink and kitchen hot tap work perfectly fine. Not sure why has started doing this and only effecting the bath tap. Both the sink and bath taps are only a meter away from each other. Any ideas? Thanks

Bath tap - single or mixer?
Hot water - gravity system (immersion heater) or Combi boiler?

Hi Builder, Mixer tap and on combi boiler. I have recently had a error message on the boiler saying primary circuit failure or water flow low. Thanks

If the hot supply to other taps is Ok, then I don't think the boiler message is relevant here. That could be the result of a number of things.

If it's just the bath mixer, then the first thing I would suspect would be the mixer cartridge.
Any idea of the make/model for the mixer?

I had a look at the mixer and it came with the bath suite 10 years ago. I took apart the hot water tap and one oring was broken so I replaced it with a new one but no luck. Then I tried to take apart the cold tap but the brass fitting where the screws goes in snapped off so will have to get a new one. Shall I go for the ceramics or normal see link below of the ones I currently have. Thanks

Ah... so no cartridge then? Just conventional glands.

Could simply be blocked with dirt and grime.

For the price of them, I would definitely replace them. Ceramics are much the same price. Probably just as well to go for them. That should re-vitalise your mixer ;o)
