Premier 1.000 Outside Led Xmas Lights

Hi,
We purchased the above lights last year and I put them on a tree in our front garden They were on the tree for about two weeks in total and worked fine all of that time. In the New Year I took them down and stowed them away in a plastic box in our shed. They were taken out of the shed last Sunday and I strung them around the tree. I switched them on and they lit up straight away and I left them on for three hours or so. When I switched them on on Monday night they didn't light up! The outside power socket is working OK and the 'timer' button lights up when pressed, but when i press the black button on the little controller nothing happens. Is there something I can try? Or is it 'wheelie bin time' for these lights and me paying out for some new lights?

Usual action is to check all bulbs are in. But otherwise check the plug connections. Can you open and check inside the controller ? Wriggle all leads, check no disconnects along the line.
