Dharavi Under 11 Girls' Football Team
16 Answers
Recently, I put up a Youtube of my nephew and his family on the start of their AirBnb world travels. It reminded me of this.
He worked for an International Sports foundation which took him to various places around the world. Dharavi is an area of Mumbai. It's one of the poorest and most densely populated places on Earth.
The Foundation gave the girls their kit. Every game, they couldn't wait to get out there and play.
The fact that they regularly lost 10-0 or sometimes 12-0 never dented their enthusiasm. They loved every minute of it.
Then, during one match, there was a miracle.
Dharavi Under 11 Girls.......... scored............a..........GOAL.
A whole GOAL.
Winning the World Cup, Olympic gold, or even Eurovision would have been nothing on this.
They just lit up.
OK, they went on to lose 10-1
But they'll never forget that 1.
I can't find the photos on Facebook now, but here's one of some of the team "off-duty."
