Coloured toilets & wash-basins: are they still made?

OK, some coloured bathroom suites were awful. But what about blue (and other non-offensive colours)? I've searched the internet and local D.I.Y. stores but have been unable to find anything except white.

Are coloured bathroom suites still made? I want a new one, not a recycled/2nd-hand one because I want modern flushing/overflow standards.

there was a co selling coloring dyes/paints. i don't know if they are still out there. if they are you could get a new white one & color it. try asking the local plumbing shops.

There are companies because we wanted a really dark deep blue one and we did find some, but the prices were amazing running into the thousands as they were all specially produced, so we went the cheapskate way and bought a second hand one on Ebay with a fabulous round sunken bath.My wife might remember the companies names, I'll let you know if I can find them.

I understand that non-white bathroom suites were made illegal under the Consumer Protection Act of 1987. This applies to both the sale and possesion of these bathroom suites, so I'm not sure markja's suggestion is a good one.

Gnu is that a joke? They still make grey ones and peach ones and cream ones, or am I missing some humour?

Try an architectural salvage yard. They may have old suits tucked away looking for a new retro home.

you can fit modern flush and plumbing fitments to an ols suit so don't dismiss salvage.

Depending on where you live you could try here (its in Surrey). http://www.miscellanea.co.uk/ This place does much more than secondhand suites - it buys up the manufacturer's new product when lines are discontinued. I've used it to find replacement porcelain units to match existing. Don't expect them to be as cheap as a new white one though - there's a price to be paid for holding in a warehouse the 1980's styles and colours.

But don't forget that if you intend to sell your house in the not-too-distant future, prospective buyers can be easily put off by coloured bathroom suites-just ask some estate agents!

Hooray someone else who wants a coloured modern bathroom suite, I have a north facing bathroom with a Harvest Gold 1970s suite, this golden yellow suite makes the bathroom feel warmer, It despeately needs replacing but I do not want a cold sterile white suite, they remind me too much of hospitals.

White bathroom suites are a fashion trend, when manufactures are unable to sell white suites anymore they will produce suites other than white and the magazines and TV shows will decide that these are the latest must have. If a black suite with white spots was promoted like the white suites they would sell and the estate agents would be soon saying white suites do not sell houses

Come on manufactures white suites have had their day give us a change, bring back some colour to our bathrooms, you may even sell more suites

Hooray! I am not the only one! I loathe those cold, clinical white suites.

I know what you mean about Harvest Gold, Sandbach. Warm and golden.

When we moved into our current house we did not have a bathroom for 18 months because we could not find either another Harvest Gold or at least something with a strong colour. Eventually the kids thought the novelty of being bathed in the dog bath had worn off and we had to find a suite of some kind.

Hello loungelizard and all concerned, never fear the "unsunghero" has an answer to all your needs!!!!!
I recently broke my toilet seat which was a rather garish two tone blue colour. After searching on the internet I found a company who could supply a toilet seat to match mine perfectly (un-broken of course) It turns out that they specialise in this field. I subsequently managed to find an Linden Green cistern for my dad, and a Flamingo Pink bath for my nan. This company is available on www.oldcolours.co.uk My experience for all my purchases was excellent.
Give them a go all their stuff is BRAND new.
