stainless steel scratches?

My stainless steel sink is covered in surface scratches. I was wondering if anyone knows of anything that can remove them (even slightly). Ive heard of t cut that is used on cars but would like to knoe if anyone has tried this and if it works?

Try cooking oil and then wipe it off with some kitchen roll
Won't that just fill the scratches with oil?
I always polish my stainless steel cooker with baby oil, it really does work.
