Paint discolouring

Painted the radiators white in the summer, now we have the heating on the paint has gone yellow.

Why is this and how can i prevent it?

Sounds like you used an ordinary gloss / Matt paint . You need to sand them down and re-paint them with an undercoat / primer, then a radiator enamal paint or a paint designed to be used on heated surfaces. and make sure the undercoat/primer is also suitable for heat aswell.

Undercoat should never be used on a radiator, the paint will eventually crack. Radiator paint should be used but you can gloss without an undercoat.

All white paints will eventually yellow with age, there is nothing you can do to stop it.

Another tip is to add a few drops of perfume to the paint, this gives the paint a pleasant odour rather than a paint smell.
