House Question affecting my Soul!!!

I am looking into decorating my conservatory. Can anybody tell me what is the psychology behind having wicker or cane furniture. I admit, such adornments are there now as it was the done thing. But why?
There are uncomfortable, a fire hazzard, flimsly, collect dust and not priced much less than normal furniture.
Is it wrong to put a nice Chesterfield in a conservatory, and why do people still buy cane stuff?

I think a Chesterfield is an excelllent idea - how about adding a few occasional tables and mabe a lamp or two - with a few books scattered here and there??

Are people with conservatories in denial of the fact that they have too much money? So to salve their conscience, they stick a shack, sorry, conservatory on the back of their spread, furnish it with wicker and cane, and pretend to live like 19th century farm labourers, eating bread and cheese, and supping out of pewter tankards, taking in the view of the countryside, which they own of course, it's their garden!
Just a thought.
